JT Advisory Board

Prior to her passing, June Burke, Julian, and Saul Srour had many conversations regarding forming an advisory board to assist Saul in his responsibilities as Guardian of all the June and Julian material when June passed. Shortly after June’s passing in 2005, the Julian Teachings Organization (JTO) was formed. Saul became both the Guardian of the Julian Teachings material and the leader of the JTO. The JTO’s mission is to preserve, protect, and disseminate the Julian Teachings.

At the same time, an Advisory Board was formed. Its purpose is to advise and assist as requested by the Leader(s) and Guardian of the JTO in matters related to the teachings. The Board is advisory in nature. Final decisions are made exclusively by the JTO Leader(s) and the Julian Teachings Guardian.

In the Spring of 2013, Saul passed the leadership of the JTO to Camille Albrecht and Larry Scheer, who accepted the position as co-leaders.

The following information provides you background information about the current Julian Teachings Advisory Board members. You’ll see that we have a talented, experienced, and motivated group.

Saul Srour — Julian Teachings Guardian

I became an active member of the Julian Community in 1976. I attended the second public lecture in NYC. Since then, I have made learning and spreading the teachings of Reverend June K. Burke and the Seraph Julian my life’s work. Julian confirmed that purpose for this lifetime, as for many others, I was asked to work with June and Julian to spread Universal Spiritual teachings. I accepted this responsibility with great respect and honor.

Over the years, I have intimately come to know their vast teachings, and as such, Julian qualified me as a teacher of the Julian disciplines. In addition, I was privately tutored by June and Julian for many years in preparation for my role as the guardian of their teaching material after June’s transformation.

I was blessed to become very close to June Burke and her husband, Bill. We often spent weekends, holidays, and vacations together. I came to know June and Bill, and subsequently, Julian as beloved teachers and friends. This friendship spanned over 30 years of laughter and love.

Over the many years of our association, I assisted June and Julian in many facets of their teachings including: publishing and distributing their books and booklets, facilitating most of the public lectures, coordinating taping and distributing materials from public lectures, as well as the TE, Magus, and Development classes.

After June’s transition, I took on the responsibility, per June and Julian’s request, as the guardian of all the June/Julian material. This massive undertaking includes organizing, digitalizing, and archiving the teachings. In addition, I work to spread the teachings, and we established the website www.julianteachings.com. I also maintain and facilitate the daily email Healing List ([email protected]), and maintain the Ring Of Light newsletter list. I thrive on being of service to our community and healing throughout the planet.

Camille Albrecht — Julian Teachings Co-leader

My spouse, Richard Grescowle and I began our metaphysical journey in 1979 studying writings of Edgar Cayce and The Theosophic Society. At that time, I also began to study astrology and soon after, the tarot. Richard and I were introduced to the Julian Teachings in 1982 and began the Self Development classes in 1983. In the mid-1980’s, June began her annual trips to Michigan to provide Julian workshops and readings. My friendship with and love for June and Julian deepened over the years, as did my love for the teachings.

Richard and I moved to Whitehall, Michigan in 1986. We completed the Self Development (aka. Development) and Practical Magus studies. I continued with Transition Energy (TE) and Mystical Magus. Once in Whitehall, Richard and I began teaching our own Self Development and Practical Magus classes.

My work with June was extensive. My mission and passion was to transcribe the Self Development Classes and Julian workshops. (June asked that I not transcribe Practical Magus.) In the process, the teachings became a living, breathing part of me. I worked with June to develop the Self Development Series, which is the format used today to teach the Self Development studies.

It’s been my honor and privilege to share the Julian Teachings with others through offering classes and workshops locally and online.

In 1977, I became a probation officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections, was promoted to Manager of Probation and Parole Staff Training and then, to Assistant Deputy Director of an adult male prison. In 1993, I left my work with Corrections to work in child abuse prevention with Catholic Charities. This fulfilling career lasted about 15 years before I began working full-time as a metaphysician.

My background in the Julian Teachings is strong, as are my skills in training, program development, and management. I continue to learn every day. As co-leader of the Julian Teachings Organization, my goal is to serve the Julian Community and to ensure that the Julian Teachings remain vital and available to those interested in enlightenment.

Larry Scheer — Julian Teachings Co-leader

Since June Burke made her transition in 2005, I have served on the advisory board. As you may know, my wife Linda and I are part of the line of succession set up by June and Julian for the guardianship of the Julian Teachings. In 2013, I accepted the honor and responsibility of co-leadership of the Julian Teachings organization with Camille Albrecht. Camille and I decided to share the leadership in order to maintain balance within our lives. I began my studies in metaphysics when I was 19, while in the United States Navy Submarine Service. My shipmate and life-long friend, Archie Mulvena, introduced me to metaphysics and to a wonderful psychic, Georgia Hughes. I was a regular meditator and member of a Theosophical study group in Charleston, South Carolina. It was Georgia Hughes who introduced me to June Burke. Georgia, Archie, June, and Julian became some of the most influential friends in my life.

My involvement with June Burke and Julian began in 1978 when I was 21. After getting a life reading from Julian in August of 1978, I would attend every Julian workshop I could. Whenever I had leave from my duties in the Navy, I would travel to upstate New York to attend workshops. A strong bond of friendship was formed between June, Julian, and myself.

After leaving the Naval service in 1980, I started a career in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley, CA. Before leaving the East Coast for California, I asked June if she and Julian would consider giving workshops in California. June said she would think about it.

In the fall of 1980, I joined Sam Holland’s meditation group. I continued to attend Julian workshops in upstate New York as often as I could. In the fall of 1981, June agreed to come to California after which, Julian started teaching workshops on a regular basis on the West Coast.

Archie and I hosted June for the first few years of her visits to the West Coast. In 1982 the first Transition Energy (TE) class was given in our living room. In 1982 I met Linda Schroeder, who would become my dearest friend and wife. Linda and I bought a home in San Jose in 1984. We were married by June Burke in 1986. Linda and I would host June when she traveled to California to attend classes and workshops from 1994 through 2004.

I studied all of the formal Julian Teachings. I completed the Transition Energy classes, Self Development classes, and Practical Magus classes taught by June and Julian. I studied Julian’s Mystical Magus classes, delivered by Sam Holland, for seven years and attended the joint magus classes in California taught by Julian.

I was instrumental in forming the Redwood Circle group which began with studies of the TE classes, plus healing arts and druid teachings presented by Julian to the group. In 1994, the Redwood Circle group became bonded as the West Coast Self Development Class group. I am the leader and area teacher of the Self Development class studies. In 1997, Linda and I began teaching the Practical Magus classes in San Jose.

I was a board member of the Foundation for the Recovery of Ancient Wisdom (FRAW) and later its president. The FRAW sponsored and produced the Julian workshops and classes given on the West Coast.

As a Julian community leader in California, I teach the Development Classes, Self Awareness Series, and Practical Magus classes. I have certified seven new teachers to teach the Self Awareness Series. I also teach Tarot classes.

One of my first practices in metaphysical studies, which I would go on to master, was the Tarot. My book, Tarot: A Bridge on the Road of Life, was published in the fall of 2012. This book is a culmination of decades of research and study. Much of what I learned about the Tarot from Julian is in this book.

I am a practitioner of the art of Tai Chi Chuan and Bagua Zhang. I have studied under Sid Fontana, a community member, for over 25 years and continue my practice. Sid and his understanding of Tai Chi have been a great influence on my life and have helped me maintain balance and perspective.

I recently retired from the high-tech industry of Silicon Valley where I was a software engineer specializing in build and release management. And, I still find time for fishing, playing guitar, and dancing and traveling with my lovely wife, Linda.

Linda Scheer — Advisor since 2005

I have a Bachelors in Business Administration, an M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation, and a current California Teaching Credential. I taught for the San Mateo County Office of Education Special Education Division as a Vocational Specialist for 17 years. In that career, I collaborated to develop a vocational training and placement program for students with severe disabilities. I began practicing Tai Chi in 1988 and started teaching the art in 1995. My Tai Chi Senior Instructor was Chang I-Chung. Sid Fontana has been my primary Tai Chi influence and teacher since 1988.

I met my future husband, Larry Scheer, and other members of Sam Holland’s meditation group at Asilomar, California in February of 1982. I began attending Sam’s Monday night meditation group shortly after the meeting at Asilomar. I went to my first California Julian workshop with June and Julian in the Fall of 1982. Larry and I bought a house together in 1984 and were married in 1986, by June. Over the years, Larry and I hosted June in our home when she came to California to conduct workshops, classes, and readings.

I studied Transition Energy with Julian, Development and Self Awareness with Julian, and Practical Magus with June and Julian. Larry and I were authorized by June and Julian to begin teaching Development and Self Awareness classes in 1994, and Practical Magus classes in 1996.  I was instrumental in forming the Redwood Circle group, which began with studies of the TE classes, plus healing arts and druid teachings presented by Julian to the group. In 1994, the Redwood Circle group became bonded as the West Coast Development Class group. In 1997, Larry and I began teaching the Practical Magus classes in San Jose. I transcribed the Practical Magus material and some of the Development class material.

I currently teach Tai Chi classes throughout the Peninsula and South San Francisco Bay area in California. I have been on the Julian Teachings Advisory Board since its inception, and I continue to support Camille and Larry as co-leaders. I was on the production team for the 20th Gathering and will be for the 22nd Gathering in California. Larry and I continue to Tai Chi, dance, and travel through life together.

My introduction to the Julian teachings occurred as an 18-year-old college student living in Virginia Beach. Since then, I studied all facets of the Julian teachings, and attended lectures and workshops Julian taught in New York, California, and other areas. A few years later, in 1983, I joined the New York Self Development group of which I was member until June’s passing. In 1987, and for a number of years afterwards, June instructed me further on the Saturday evenings following a Self Development class. This period also included working with Miriam Chandler on transcribing classes and putting together course material from the Julian books and lectures. In 1992, I taught the first Self-Discovery course in Virginia. One year later, I began teaching the Self Development class in Virginia that later bonded as the Atlantic Circle in 2003.

In 1999, I met Frank Wharton, who since 1975, worked with Julian on soul astrology. Under Julian’s guidance, Frank taught Camille Albrecht, Lynn Chandler, and me the soul astrology materials. Since Frank’s passing in late 2002, I continue the ongoing research and teaching of the soul astrology material. The lifelong friendships formed with June, Bill, Julian, and the rest of our community is of great value to me. We truly were blessed by what we witnessed. Today, I am a teacher of the Self Development and Self-Awareness classes as well as soul astrology.

I was raised in a household that was receptive to the Edgar Cayce materials, and this likely sustained my “awareness” of intuitive and elemental energies, and it eventually led to a lifelong relationship with the A.R.E./Edgar Cayce Foundation and Atlantic University. From this association, since my youth, I have the rare opportunity to meet with and know many of the authors, teachers, and thinkers of New Thought. At age 15, I began my study in astrology. In addition, my interests lie in Western mysticism, its associated history, and transpersonal psychology.

Professionally, I work in higher education for the UK based Alef Trust. I hold a M.Ed. in Higher Education with a specialty in international education while my undergraduate degree is in management and leadership with a focus on non-profit management.

Denny Brown — Advisor since 2009

I’m a relative newcomer to the Julian crowd. Larry Scheer introduced me to June and Julian in the mid-1990s.

I was raised Catholic, attending a Catholic grade school in St. Paul, Minnesota. I graduated from Cretin High School, a boys, Catholic, military high school in 1964. I turned down an appointment to the Air Force Academy to enter a Catholic seminary. That lasted all of 6 months. I left the seminary, and effectively shed my Catholic indoctrination. I went on a “God fast” for a few years. The late 60’s and early 70’s were good for that kind of thing.

While at Stanford for grad school in Computer Science, I took a seminar called “Human Potential” led by Willis Harmon, who later founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences. That class reignited my interest in metaphysics and spirituality. For many years, I explored those topics on my own. I read things like the biographies of Edgar Cayce and books based on his readings. I taught myself self-hypnosis. I explored people like Dick Sutphen, a clinical hypnotherapist, who produced books and training materials on past life therapy and self-hypnosis.

From 1976-1981, I was Associate Chairman of the Computer Science Department at Stanford. I managed most of the teaching functions of the department, as well as many of the faculty committees. I developed and taught many of the undergraduate programming courses.

In 1982, I left academia to take a job with a startup company whose mission was to commercialize Expert Systems, a type of Artificial Intelligence software. I learned about the software business at Teknowledge and Coherent Thought. In 1990, I co-founded Expert Support with Jan Clayton and my wife, Jake Brown. Larry Scheer and I worked together at Expert Support for a few years before we discovered our mutual interest in metaphysics. It took a while before Larry introduced me to June and Julian at one of the west coast workshops in the mid-1990s.

In January 2006, Larry started teaching a Self Awareness class based on the original Self Development series. In late 2010, we completed that series and I am now certified to teach the Self Awareness classes. I have not made the commitment to teach that class … yet. Since late 2010, I have continued taking the rest of the Self Development series.

I was invited to speak at the 12th Gathering in 2009 in Monterey. I led a session on “Inspiring Business: a Confluence of Spirit & Business”. Later that year, Saul invited me to join the Advisory Board.

The energy I bring to the Advisory Board is expansive. I would like to see the Julian Community grow to be dramatically bigger (in terms of number of individuals exposed the the Julian Teachings), younger (in terms of the average age of community members), and more engaged (in terms of the way the community interacts with one another). I would like to see the Julian Teachings have greater impact on more people over the next 5 to 20 years.

Jan Clayton — Advisor since 2018

From about the age of 18, I dabbled in astrology and a variety of other spiritual practices, but I never really had anyone in my life to support the activities. Then, in the mid-1990s, Larry Scheer introduced me to June and Julian. After I went to my first Julian workshop, I knew that I found the teacher that I had been looking for. I attended every June/Julian workshop in California that I could while June was still alive.

In 1996, Larry and Linda Scheer started teaching the Practical Magus class, and I was invited to join. A few years later, I joined the in-progress Self Development class and eventually caught up to the rest of the group. I am now certified to teach the Self-Awareness classes. In the last couple of years, I have been taking on the Mystical Magus studies with Sam Holland and Transition Energy with Andrea Smith. In addition, I have been working with Nick Theo studying Soul Astrology.

I have been a strong supporter over the years of the Julian teachings. For several years, I was on the board of the Foundation for the Recovery of Ancient Wisdom (FRAW). I helped organize several West Coast workshops and a couple of Gatherings of Light. In 2017, I became one of the Ring of Light newsletter staff members.

I see my role on the Advisory Board as one of helping make sure that the information gets to those who need it. I want to make sure that the community has easy access to the information. I also plan to use my extensive technical background to help the organization use technology in the best way possible to promote and protect the teachings. Click here to find out more about me.
